2004 Buick Century Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2004 Buick Century?
A: Raising the vehicle lets you replace the front brake hose by taking off the wheel and tire from the front. Wipe dirt from brake hoses and brake pipe fitting before putting a rubber stopper on the open brake pipe fitting to keep fluid inside and protected. To avoid brake pipe and bracket deformation use a back up wrench on the hose fitting to disconnect the brake hose from the brake pipe fitting and cap or plug the pipe fitting end. Pull the brake hose retaining clip off the bracket mount then take the hose out of its location. Push aside the brake caliper bolt and detach the brake hose from the caliper unit. Remove the two copper gaskets attached to the caliper or hose ends before discarding them. Fit new copper brake hose gaskets onto the brake hose and mount them by inserting the brake hose bolt. Secure the brake hose's caliper bolt to the brake caliper and fasten it with 40 ft. Lbs. Torque settings. Before weight is added place the brake hose into its bracket while checking for bends and aligning the hose end with the bracket notch based on the hose paint stripe. Push the retainer onto the hose fitting on the bracket and discard the rubber seal from the brake pipe end before joining the brake pipe fitting with the brake hose. Use a back up wrench to join the brake pipe end to the brake hose while protecting both components from damage and tighten it to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Put back the front wheel parts while making sure the hose stays away from suspension elements throughout sharp turns; replace the hose if it touches suspension parts. Close the hydraulic brake system before putting down the vehicle.
