Install the new boot clamp onto the rack and pinion boot before you apply grease to the inner rod and gear assembly but only after fitting the boot into the inner tie rod assembly. Protect the rack and pinion boot from twisting or shaping distortion. The boot needs shaping by hand before the boot clamp can be used for installation.
