How to replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) on 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

Start the Ignition Control Module (ICM) replacement by disconnecting electrical connectors then making notes about spark plug wire positions before unhooking the wires from ignition coils. The process requires removal of Ignition Coil screws prior to extracting ignition coils from the icm. Remove the icm from the module mounting bracket as your next step. Begin with icm installation by placing the component back onto the module mounting bracket then installing ignition coils on the icm. Tighten the Ignition Coil screws to 4.5 n.m (40 lb in) following the fastener notice in service precautions. Then reattach each spark plug wire according to its marked position before connecting the icm electrical connectors.
