2004 Chevrolet Tahoe Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear brake line (Jounce W/JL4) on 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe?
A: Before starting the brake hose replacement process (Jounce W/JL4) you must raise the vehicle to work on it while keeping the areas free of dust and debris. The brake pipe fitting ends need a rubber seal to keep brake fluid from escaping and becoming damaged. Paste a back up wrench into brake hose's brake pipe area and separate both parts before capping or plugging the stopper with rubber caps. Trace the brake hose upper bracket bolt to extract it and reapply the caps to the brake pipe fitting ends. Use the back up wrench to detach brake hose fittings from brake pipes then place fittings underneath protective caps or plugs. Unfasten the lower bracket bolt of the brake hoses plus both jounce hoses. Place the brake jounce hoses first and secure the brake hose lower bracket by tightening bolt at a force of 12 Nm. Install jounce hoses by putting rear brake pipes into them and tightening brake pipe fittings to 25 Nm before making sure hoses are straight and avoid contact with suspension parts. Place the suspension under weight before putting in the brake hose bracket bolt. Then take off the rubber cap from the open brake pipe fitting end. Use a back up wrench to join the brake hoses to brake pipe fittings and do not bend the bracket or pipe as you tighten the fittings to 25 Nm torque setting. Check if the hose touches the suspension parts and take correct action to straighten it if necessary. After finishing all work lower the vehicle and perform hydraulic brake system bleeding.
