Chevrolet Tahoe Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Replace a Rear Jounce Brake Line on Chevrolet Tahoe?
A: Before replacing the rear brake hose jounce you must first hoist and stabilize the vehicle then wipe off every dirt and contamination from brake hose and pipe connections. To prevent brake fluid waste and contamination install rubber caps over the open brake pipe fittings. Run a second wrench tool while shifting the brake pipe fitting from brake hose links before sealing the brake pipe end tips. First disengage the brake hose from its bracket by taking off the reinforcement clip. Then extract the jounce hose without letting brake pipe ends leak. Cut off the 2 rear brake pipe connections from the junction block at the rear axle location and seal the tube ends. Remove the axle retainer bolt first before taking out the brake hose from the vehicle. Install the brake hose in back on the axle first and fasten the junction block bolt with 12 nm tightness at 106 inch lbs. Torque. Place caps off the brake pipe ends and join them with the junction block on the axle with proper torque value of 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Keep the hose straight and away from suspension components. When the vehicle sits on its suspension install the brake hose into its bracket and fasten it with the jounce hose retaining clip. Secure the exposed brake pipe fitting to the brake hose by using a back up wrench. Also tighten the connection until it reaches 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) torque. Keep the bracket and pipe straight throughout the process. Check if the Brake Line touches suspension elements. Replace it with a new part if necessary after solving the problem. Toend the procedure by emptying the hydraulic brake system and letting the vehicle reach ground level.
