• Q: How to replace the water pump (LP1, LY7) on 2005 Cadillac CTS?

  A: You need to drain the cooling system before you can start replacing lp1 or ly7 water pumps. Also take off the Water Pump generator and pulley Drive Belt as part of the process. You should hold the Water Pump Pulley with en 46104 and afterward unscrew the pulley bolts to take both the Water Pump Pulley and the Water Pump from the system. Unbolt the pump from its location and also remove the Water Pump. Discard the aging Water Pump seal during this step. Use a proper method to clean both Water Pump contact areas before putting on a fresh Water Pump seal and the Water Pump itself. Fix the Water Pump studs until they reach 10 nm torque setting and put back the Water Pump Pulley with its bolts. Secure the Water Pump Pulley with en46104 before tightening its hex bolts to 106 inch lbs. Reattach the motor and Water Pump belt then fill up the cooling system.
