How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2006 Buick LaCrosse?

The first safety step for Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) replacement involves turning off the ignition switch followed by removing the lock tab from the electronic brake control module (EBCM) harness connector before disconnected it. Reserve the positions of brake pipes before disconnecting wheel cylinder brake pipes from the BPMV along with master cylinder brake pipes from the BPMV. Gently remove the two nuts that fasten the BPMV to the BPMV bracket while protecting the exterior by securing leaking brake fluid which may harm paintwork. Before extraction separate the BPMV and EBCM unit as a single assembly from the vehicle but replace the BPMV alone first remove the EBCM component. The process of BPMV and EBCM installation requires mounting the EBCM first followed by installation of BPMV and EBCM as an assembly into the BPMV bracket with stud flats properly aligned to the bracket. Fasten the two BPMV to BPMV bracket nuts with a torque of 12 Nm (8 ft. lbs.). The correct connection of brake pipes to the BPMV is essential for preventing wheel lockup due to personal injury risk; this condition can be checked through an Antilock stop or with a Scan Tool. During new BPMV installation remove any shipping plugs that may exist in the valve openings. Before everything else install master cylinder brake pipes to the BPMV then the wheel cylinder brake pipes until all brake pipe fasteners reach 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). Reconnect the EBCM harness connector while pushing in the lock tab. Next fill the brake fluid system and bleed it before switching the ignition to RUN position with the engine off. Finally perform the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.
