In order to replace the wheel drive shaft outer joint and seal, one should first collect the required tools, namely: snap ring pliers (J 8059), drive axle seal clamp pliers (J 35910) as well as drive axle swage ring clamp (J 41048). Uncouple the large boot retaining clamps from the CV Joint using a side cutter and throw away; do the same to the small boot retaining clamps from the halfshaft bar. Cut off trunk stopping outboard from CV Joint outer race and shuffle it back from joint. Remove grease from the CV Joint inner race and open ears on the race retaining ring using the snap ring pliers (J 8059), extract the CV Joint assembly from the bar. Remove the boot from the bar and tap softly on the CV Joint cage in order to remove the chrome alloy balls and doing this until you remove 6 of them. Clean the inner and outer race assemblies, CV Joint cage, and balls thoroughly with cleaning solvent entailing the removal of old grease and contaminants before allowing them to dry. In assembly, put a new swage ring onto the lesser part of the joint boot and push both on, on the halfshaft bar and allow it being perfectly positioned in the groove of the boot. While mounting the drive axle swage ring clamp (J 41048) in a vise, place the outboard conclude of the halfshaft assembly, lining the boot neck at the bottom die.
