How to replace the rear disc brake backing plate on 2006 Chevrolet SSR?

Before beginning the process lift the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel combo to access the back brake component. Unplug the park brake cable from the rear brake caliper before taking off the brake caliper and bracket together with the brake rotor and park brake shoe. Unbolt the rear drive axle from the backing plate using the specified tools and taking off the backing plate from the housing. Mount the backing plate to the axle housing flange by installing backing plate nuts afterwards tighten backing plate bolts to 135 nm (100 ft. Lbs.). Install the rear axle drive parts alongside the park brake shoe and brake rotor before putting the brake caliper and its bracket back on. After reattaching the park brake cable to the rear brake caliper you must adjust the park brake shoe before putting back the tire and wheel unit for the vehicle to descend.
