How to service and repair a front coil springs and shock absorber on 2007 Cadillac STS?

The shock absorber service process begins by lifting the vehicle before supporting it and removing the tire followed by the wheel. Place the shock module apart from the vehicle while using it with the spring compressor. Mark both the upper Control Arm assembly and insulator together for later installation while taking care to compress the spring when the shock absorber easily moves. Place the spring compressor forcing screw through its rotation to compress the coil spring until it reaches the correct length and then proceed to remove the magnaride sensor nut and shock absorber upper retaining nut so that you can safely extract the shock absorber from the shock module. Relaxing the compressor forcing screw enables removal of both the upper mounting plate together with the coil spring. When installing the shock absorber lower to the mounting holes on the upper Control Arm Bracket make sure each alignment pin sits at a 90-degree angle. Place all parts into the spring compressor while matching their marks and compress the coil spring once more using the forcing screw. Fasten the shock absorber retaining nut to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque and torque the magnaride sensor nut afterward. Begin by removing the shock module from the spring compressor and reinstalling it onto the vehicle before reinstalling the tire along with wheel then lowering the vehicle.
