• Q: How to replace the water pump (LC3) on 2007 Cadillac XLR?

  A: Before working on the Water Pump (LC3) you must first empty the cooling system then remove the air filter assembly. Eliminate the Water Pump Drive Belt followed by the Water Pump and generator Drive Belt tensioner. Take out the Water Pump Pulley bolts before removing the pulley itself from the pump. You need to place a drain pan under the Water Pump bolts before removing them to hold any leaking coolant. Then take out and discard the Water Pump with its old seal. Examine the mating areas between the Water Pump and engine front cover before fitting the new Water Pump seal. Put the Water Pump and new seal onto the engine front cover before installing bolts that need to be tightened to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Connect the Water Pump Pulley onto the Water Pump and fasten it tight with the bolts at a torque of 12 n.m (106 lb in). Place the Water Pump back into position and connect its generator Drive Belt tensioner. Install both the Water Pump Drive Belt and the air cleaner assembly afterward. Finally, fill the cooling system.
