  A: Start the left side Catalytic Converter replacement with removal of the left bank Exhaust Manifold heat shield (LY7). Begin by removing the Catalytic Converter nuts from the assembly before elevating and supporting the car. The first step is to disconnect the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector along with the muffler pipe from both left and right side catalytic converters. You must separate the Exhaust Pipe fasteners from their right bank Catalytic Converter attachment points before you remove the Catalytic Converter and its seal/heat shield and Oxygen Sensor from the Exhaust Manifold. Extract the Oxygen Sensor that is attached to the Catalytic Converter. When installing the Oxygen Sensor you must place it onto the Catalytic Converter while checking the condition of the seal/heat shield surface. Replace the surface if any damage or wear is detected. After installing the Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield onto the converter secure the manifold exhaust with the Catalytic Converter in position then bolt it down with the nuts. Verify that the Oxygen Sensor's electrical connection is in place while inspecting the Catalytic Converter seals for damage. Replace any worn seals immediately. Joint the muffler pipes to both catalytic converters through the left and right sides and tightly secure the muffler nuts to 22 n.m (16 lb ft). Secure the Catalytic Converter on the Exhaust Manifold by securing its nuts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque while maintaining the vehicle in its lowered position. Reinstall the right bank Exhaust Manifold heat shield (LY7) at the end of the installation process.
