2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Wheel Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the wheel cylinder on 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Begin the Wheel Cylinder replacement by properly lifting and supporting the vehicle. Lift the vehicle first and detach both the tire and wheel parts before taking out the Brake Drum. Clean the Wheel Cylinder area before disconnecting both the Wheel Cylinder bleeder cap and valve plus the brake pipe fitting. Seal the pipe end to keep brake fluid inside the system. Move ahead by eliminating the Wheel Cylinder mounting nuts. Use the j 38400 to extend the brake shoes and take out the Wheel Cylinder from its position in the Brake Backing Plate. Use j 38400 to spread and install the new Wheel Cylinder onto the Brake Backing Plate. Insert Wheel Cylinder mounting bolts into their places then torque them to 16 n.m 12 lb ft. Push the brake pipe end and attach the Wheel Cylinder fitting. Tighten it to 19 n.m (14 lb ft). Fasten the Wheel Cylinder bleeder valve with a torque of 8 n.m (71 pounds in). Secure the Brake Drum then bleed hydraulic braking components and put on the cap for the bleeder valve. Set the drum brakes then put on the tire and wheel setup before letting the vehicle down to ground level.
