A: To change the Wheel Cylinder, first, lift and stabilize the car. Remove the tire and wheel assembly, but have the Brake Drum removed as well. Scrub all matter and impurities surrounding the Wheel Cylinder, and remove Wheel Cylinder bleeder cap and valve . Remove the brake pipe fitting from the Wheel Cylinder, cap the severed brake pipe's end to avoid the escape of fluid and contamination. Remove the Wheel Cylinder mounting bolting screws. Utilizing the Brake Shoe spanner and spring remover (J 38400), spread the capsule of the brake shoes apart, using which we pry-off the Wheel Cylinder from the Brake Backing Plate. For mating, again, use the Brake Shoe spanner and spring remover (J 38400) to open the shoes of the brake at the top, and install the new Wheel Cylinder to the Brake Backing Plate. Mount the Wheel Cylinder mounting bolts and tighten them to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Dismount the cap from the brake pipe end and connect the brake pipe fitting at the Wheel Cylinder, tighten to 19n.m (14 lb ft). Mount the Wheel Cylinder bleeder valve and tighten it to 8 n. M (71 lb in). Next, fit the Brake Drum and bleed the hydraulic brake system and fit the bleeder valve cap. Change the drum brakes, afterwards fit the tire and wheel assembly, then lower your car.
