How to replace the front brake caliper bracket on 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt?

Use heavy mechanic's wire or suitable alternative to hold the brake caliper in place when connected to the hydraulic flexible brake hose before replacement. Take out the caliper from the bracket keeping the hydraulic hose connected before removing the brake pads and pad retainers from the bracket. Before using the bracket again you need to carefully scrub away dust and rust from both pad connecting interfaces. Examine the brake disc pad retainers both at the caliper mounting bracket and brake pads to detect bending, corrosion damage or looseness; replace damaged parts right away. Take off the Brake Caliper Bracket bolts then separate the bracket from the Steering Knuckle. Verify the Brake Caliper Bracket for fixed bendings and cracks plus look at the brake caliper guide pins (1, 4) for smooth motion while checking the guide pin boots quality . Check the guide pins for movement issues and any damaged or worn boots. Then replace the defective elements. When installing the brake caliper mounting bracket onto the Steering Knuckle do not apply thread locking compounds or standard taps to fasteners. Fit the bolts through the bracket holes at 115 n.m (85 lb ft), afterward lubricate the contact points between the caliper bracket and its matching surface with premium brake silicone lubricant. Wipe off debris from the contact area of brake retainer pads before they return to the caliper bracket installation slot. Arrange brake pads that possess wear sensors so they face the brake rotor while moving forward. Put the brake pads on their slots before taking away the support and putting back the brake caliper from the top.
