How to replace the front brake caliper bracket on 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt?

Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic's wire before replacing the front Brake Caliper Bracket so hydraulic damage does not occur. First remove the brake caliper from its bracket without pulling off the hose before taking out both brake pads and the pad retainers. You must clean all hardware surfaces on the pad when you plan to reuse this bracket. Check the disc Brake Pad retainers for damage including bent tabs, advanced corrosion, and movement. Replace any retainers that show problems. Take out the four brake caliper mounting bracket bolts before disconnecting the bracket from the Steering Knuckle. Check if the caliper bracket shows structural problems that must be replaced and test both guide pins (1, 4) to see if they move freely through their boots which have to be intact. Replace both guide pins or boots when damage or restricted movement is observed on them. Install the brake caliper mounting bracket onto the Steering Knuckle but do not apply thread locking compounds. Tighten the bolts to 115 nm (85 ft. Lbs.). Put a small amount of high temperature silicone brake lubricant on the caliper bracket surface before installing both parts along with cleaning the pad mating surfaces of the retainers . Install the wear sensor Brake Pad by placing it directly inboard of the rotor using its correct side facing the rotating brake disc when driving. After fitting the brake pads onto the bracket you should take out the support tool and place the brake caliper onto the pads and bracket mounting surface.
