How to replace the drum brake backing plate on 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt?

Vehicle maintenance starts with vehicle support then removal of tire wheel assembly followed by Brake Drum and Brake Shoe removal. The next step includes separating the universal spring from the Brake Backing Plate before removing the Wheel Cylinder. Remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly after you detach the rear park brake cable end fitting from the drum Brake Backing Plate to finish removing the Brake Backing Plate. Start your installation with the new Brake Backing Plate in position followed by the wheel bearing/hub assembly. You should install the Brake Backing Plate followed by Wheel Cylinder with universal spring. Replace the brake shoes then readjust drum brakes system before positioning the Brake Drum. The hydraulic brake bleed procedure must be completed before installing the tire and wheel assembly into the lowered vehicle.
