2007 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: To change the rear brake hose, first lift and support the vehicles then remove tire and wheel assembly. Accordingly, clean out all dirt and foreign matter from the brake hose ends as well as from brake pipe fittings. Disengage the brake pipe fittings from the brake hose using a back up wrench, covering the ends with a plug to avoid the loss and contamination of fluid. Take the brake hose retaining clips off from the hose mounting brackets and the hose from the mounting brackets as well. For installation, mount on to position the brake hose in the mounting brackets such that the hose fittings go into the notch in the brackets, and install the hose retaining clips onto the hose fittings. With the aid of back up wrench on the hose fitting, mount up the brake pipe fittings in the rear brake hose and tighten to 19 N.m (14 lb ft). Replace the tire and the wheel set making sure that the hose does not touch every component of the suspension; if it does, then take away the hose and fix the problem. Finally, bleed the hydraulic brakes system and bring the vehicle down.
