Chevrolet Cobalt Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line (Caliper) on Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: In order to switch the rear brake hose you should first lift and stabilize your vehicle then take off the wheel and tire. Repel any foreign matter and dirt particles from both brake pipe and hose ends. Before removal of the brake hose from its brake pipe connections you should seal both ends with caps or plugs to prevent any fluid leak or contamination. Separate the brake hose mounting bracket by pulling its retaining clip out. Remove the hose from its place. Take out the brake hose fitting bolt from the brake caliper and throw away the copper brake hose gaskets. To protect the system seal the openings of the caliper and hose using cap or plug solutions. Install new copper brake hose gaskets before putting the hose fittings together. Install the brake hose assembly to the brake caliper then tighten the bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft) as you place the brake hose gaskets and fitting bolt on the brake hose. Use the brake hose to attach it to the mounting bracket with the hose fitting resting in the notch and fasten it with the retaining clip. To attach the brake pipe fitting at the rear brake hose use a back up wrench and tighten it to 21 N.m (15 lb ft). Replace the tire assembly while making sure the hose stays away from suspension parts. Also fix the hose contact issue when you find it. Before bringing the vehicle down lower the hydraulic system through bleeding steps.
