2005 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line (Jounce) on 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Before replacing the rear brake hose Jounce start by raising and supporting the vehicle then removing the tire and wheel. Wash all foreign particles away from the brake hose ends before working on the brake pipe components. A back up wrench must disconnect the brake pipe fittings from the brake hose while you apply caps or plugs to avoid fluid waste and contamination. Take away the brake hose retention clips from the mounting brackets and slide the hose off its holders. Put the new brake hose into mounting brackets while matching its end fittings with notches. Apply hose retaining clips onto fitting ends. Using an extra wrench tool on the hose joint to connect back brake pipes at the rear brake hose and apply 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.) torque to the hose fittings. Reassembly the wheel components while verifying that the hose stays away from suspension parts. Reinstall the tire if necessary but fix suspension problems first. Complete the braking system by draining the hydraulic fluid and putting the vehicle back to ground level.
