2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line from the axle to the caliper on 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Higher the vehicle to begin replacing the brake hose that connects axle to caliper. Wipe away dirt and debris from both ends of the brake hose and brake pipe fitting. Before revealing the brake fitting from the hose use the back up wrench to disconnect both parts with protective caps at each end to dodge fluid loss and soiling. Pull out the brake hose from its bracket after taking off the retaining clip from the hose mounting bracket. Take out the brake hose fitting bolt from the caliper and throw away the deteriorated copper brake hose gaskets. Use caps or plugs to seal both the brake caliper opening and brake hose to keep fluid inside during work. First take off caps or plugs before setting new copper brake hose gaskets during installation. Place the brake hose bolts and gaskets on the hose before screwing them by hand until you apply 48 nm (35 lb ft) of torque. Put the brake hose to its mounting bracket and the brake caliper while placing the hose fitting into the notch on the bracket. Use the retaining clip to put the brake hose fitting and push it into place at the rear brake hose end before tightening it to 21 nm (15 lb ft). Put back the tire and wheel set while making sure the hose stays separate from the suspension system parts; fix any accidental contact right away. Complete the job by draining the hydraulic brake system then lowering the vehicle.
