How to replace the rear parking brake cable on 2008 Chevrolet Malibu?

Before starting the replacement of the parking brake rear cable users should verify that the park brake pedal has been cleared. The installation requires users to detach both the console on the front floor along with the rear carpeting. The rear right or left park brake cable needs detachment from the console park brake bracket along with the front park brake cable equalizer. Raise the vehicle before removing any retaining clips found between the body and cable except when the bracket includes cables. The procedure starts by removing the tire then the wheel before getting rid of the rear park brake cable retainer bolt and the caliper park brake lever connector. Lift the vehicle while taking out the plastic stud retainer after which remove the park brake cable along with its body grommet. The first step for installation requires installation of the park brake cable to the vehicle while the pass-through grommet gets installed to the body. Connect the plastic retainer clip to the stud before repositioning the vehicle and attaching the rear park brake cable to the caliper park brake lever through torquing the rear park brake cable retainer bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Put on the plastic retainer clips by mounting them to the body units and cable attachments. Put the tire back and place the wheel into position before lowering the vehicle down. Then attach the right or left rear park brake cable between the console park brake bracket and front park brake cable equalizer. Reinstall the rear carpet beneath the front floor console while completing four cycles of the park brake pedal operation.
