How to service and repair the coil springs and shock absorber on 2009 Buick Lucerne?

The first step for servicing and repairing coil springs starts with extracting the strut from your vehicle. Set the strut inside j 45400 (Strut Spring Compressor) while the spring stays compressed for when the strut freely moves. Threads the screw of the spring compressor while it compresses the coil spring. Use a 45 torx(R) socket to stabilize the strut shaft then install j-35669 (Strut Rod Nut Socket) to remove the upper strut mount nut. Once you extract the strut from j 45400 removing the compressor forcing screw allows you to remove the coil spring and upper strut mount. Install the coil spring and upper strut mount onto the j 45400 tool then turn the spring compressor forcing screw until the coil spring reaches proper compression. Fit the strut assembly onto the coil spring with upper strut mount before installing the strut retaining nut loosely. You should use the 45 torx(R) socket to once again hold the strut shaft then use the j-35669 to install the upper strut mount nut at 75 nm (55 lb ft). To finish the replacement process remove the strut from the j 45400 before reinstalling it into the vehicle.
