2010 GMC Canyon Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front side door emblem/nameplate on 2010 GMC Canyon?
A: Begin your Canyon rear door emblem/nameplate replacement project by covering and matching the installation area with tape. Heat the emblem/nameplate with a J 25070 gun kept 152 mm above the surface and move in circles for 30 seconds. A plastic flat blade tool helps to take off the emblem/nameplate. 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) removes all adhesive from the door panel and back of the emblem/nameplate. Clean the door surface with VMP naphtha which comes from varnish makers and painters. Without label marks on the door fix tape first and measure 251 mm (9.88 in) from the bottom and 157 mm (6.18 in) from the front edge to place the emblem/nameplate front. Use the J 25070 heating tool to warm and prepare the door surface to 21°C (70°F) without touching the emblem/nameplate adhesive backing. When pressing the emblem/nameplate onto the door panel move the backing from the front end and attach the emblem with continued backing removal. Use your hands to roll the emblem/nameplate for good sticking then check if it bonded correctly before lifting tape out from the spaces near the door symbol.
