  A: Beginning the intermediate Steering Shaft seal replacement requires removal of the Steering Column and intermediate Steering Shaft and vacuum Brake Booster. First disconnect the fuel lines connected to under hood fasteners to reach the Steering Shaft seal bolts before removing these bolts and extracting the Steering Shaft seal from the vehicle. Secure the new intermediate shaft seal within the vehicle by matching its holes to those on the floor pan. Use intermediate shaft seal bolts to connect it and tighten them to 3 nm (27 inch lbs.). The first step of installation includes setting the fuel bundle into the under hood fasteners followed by the vacuum Brake Booster and the Steering Column and intermediate Steering Shaft. During post-installation testing ensure that the intermediate shaft operates without resistance or binding at the intermediate Steering Shaft seal hub.
