How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on Cadillac CTS?

Before replacing the Engine Control Module (ECM) verify that the ignition is off to protect the machine components. Disconnection of the engine control module ground wire from the ECM starts by removing its screw that secures the wire to the module. Touching the connector pins should be avoided to stop electrostatic discharge damage from occurring. You must open the release levers before you disconnect the ECM connectors from the Engine Control Module. Start your replacement of the ECM by removing the nuts attached to the ECM bracket and then pulling out the ECM from its position. Position the ECM to the ECM bracket with the ignition off before securing it with nuts that need to be tightened to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
