    Q:
How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on Buick LaCrosse? Posted by Customer
    A:
A replacement of the Engine Control Module (ECM) must begin with shutting off the ignition to protect electronic devices. The oil life percentage must be obtained through a scan tool because neglecting this step will reset the oil to 100 percent requiring an oil change after 5000 km (3,000 mi) from the last maintenance. The main relay circuit of the ecm Fuse located in the underhood Fuse block requires measurement with a dvom in an off state where no voltage should be detected. First disconnect the negative cable from the battery before removing the ecm Fuse and the tcm/ipcm Fuse together with the ecm/tcm Fuse from the underhood Fuse block. First depress the lever lock and rotate the clamp while sliding the lock to release and remove the body side (outboard) ecm connector. Modern microcontrollers fail to function when exposed to electrostatic discharges thus pin-to-pin contact should be avoided. To begin uninstall the engine side (inboard) ecm connector and then remove its redundant ground wire and hardware before gpl/ens m5.9 34m xm0172001 page 360 instructs to unfasten the ecm bolts in sequence. You should disassemble the ecm bracket when needed through its bolt removal and by taking away the bracket itself. Reinstall the ecm bracket when possible and fasten its bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The installation process starts by securing the ecm through proper bolt tightening up to 10 n.m (89 lb in) for the bolts and up to 5 n.m (44 lb in) for the redundant ground wire bolt. Start by reconnecting the ecm connector positioned on the engine side and then move to connect the ecm connector placed on the body side. Place back the ecm/tcm Fuse together with tcm/ipc Fuse and ecm Fuse within the underhood Fuse block before reconnecting the battery negative cable. Users should program the ecm through the service programming system before ending the ignition sequence for at least five seconds. To finish execute the idle learn procedure while clearing all dtcs through the scan tool.

    Q:
How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before replacing the Engine Control Module (ECM) verify that the ignition is off to protect the machine components. Disconnection of the engine control module ground wire from the ECM starts by removing its screw that secures the wire to the module. Touching the connector pins should be avoided to stop electrostatic discharge damage from occurring. You must open the release levers before you disconnect the ECM connectors from the Engine Control Module. Start your replacement of the ECM by removing the nuts attached to the ECM bracket and then pulling out the ECM from its position. Position the ECM to the ECM bracket with the ignition off before securing it with nuts that need to be tightened to 8 N.m (71 lb in). Check how the harness connectors match with ECM connectors before guiding all parts into place with the release lever securely locked. Replace the screw which secures the ECM ground wire to the ECM then tighten this screw to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in). Use the Service Programming System to program the ECM. After programming the new GM SPO Replacement Part to replace an ECM it immediately acquires the fuel continue password. The 10-minute or 30-minute relearn process needs to be executed for learning the current vehicle's theft deterrent control module password whenever an ECM transfers to a different vehicle. Programming of the theft deterrent system components becomes necessary after installing an ECM which originated from another vehicle. Also run the idle learn procedure.

    Q:
How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on Buick Rendezvous? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace a powertrain control module (PCM) requires verifying that the pcm you received is the correct one through inspection. The existing pcm must be replaced with the new service pcm though programming is mandatory since the replacement will not carry pre-written software. The dtc p0602 issue occurs when eeprom is unprogrammed or showing malfunction symptoms. The service pcm must receive its broadcast code and production pcm number during identification procedures until the end of its service life so one should skip covering these values on the pcm face. Begin by scanning for current engine oil life data using an official tool which should be recorded before replacement when replacement programming is omitted because the default engine oil life will set to 100% leading to an early oil-change requirement at 5000 km (3,000 mi). To extract the pcm from its assembly the technician must first disconnect the negative Battery Cable before removing the left sheet metal diagonal brace with air cleaner assembly cover followed by lifting the pcm. Connectors should be unmated from the pcm before taking it outside of the engine compartment. Begin by attaching the pcm electrical connectors while tightening their screws to 8 n.m (71 lb in) before placing the pcm inside the air cleaner assembly and covering it with retainers. Reinstall the left sheet metal diagonal brace next to the installation of the negative Battery Cable connection. The eeprom programming needs to be completed by any new pcm installation.
