You need to open the trunk and unscrew the rear carpet panel to gain access to the trunk latch on both convertible and hardtop models. Make a mark on the latch position for easy install when you put it back in place. Severely grip the bolts joining the latch bracket and latch parts. Afterward, pull out the latch. Position the bolts and fasten the latch to its bracket before tightening them to 10 N.m torque setting. Insert the manual release cable below the rear center floor stowage compartment before adding the rear center carpet panel back in place.
