How to replace the engine oil and oil filter on Chevrolet Equinox?

A mechanic must elevate the automobile before placing an oil drain pan under the engine oil Drain Plug next to begin replacing both the filter and oil. Start by taking the engine oil Drain Plug off and apply cleaning solution to both the plug and seal while inspecting them for replacement purposes. Check the Oil Pan sealing surface for cleanliness before performing necessary maintenance or replacement of the surface. Secondly remove the Oil Filter and examine the sealing area of the Oil Filter adapter while cleaning it for needed repairs or replacement. Apply clean oil on the new Oil Filter gasket before installing it to its proper placement where tightening to 3/4 to 1 full turn should occur after the gasket makes contact with the mounting surface. Replace the engine oil Drain Plug by tightening it to a torque of 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Afterward dispose of the oil drain pan. Before adding new engine oil to the vehicle users should lower it to floor level and remove the oil fill cap on the rocker arm cover. Place the oil fill cap onto its original position on the rocker arm cover.
