To replace the Throttle Body assembly, you pull out the air cleaner assembly, the accelerate control cable and the cruise control cable from Throttle Body, and the vacuum hose. Next, disjoin throttle position (TP) sensor and idle air control (IAC) valve harness connectors along with the coolant hoses from the Throttle Body and a vapor vent pipe. Unscrew the Throttle Body attaching nuts, and then remove the Throttle Body with the gasket and dispose of the old gasket. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces without ruining the aluminum surfaces. Do not hot soak the Throttle Body in a cold immersion type cleaner because the throttle plate has a factory applied sealing compound which may be wrecked by strong solvents or brushing; however, use a spray type cleaner like gm x-66a or gm p/n 1052626 and a shop towel for heavy deposits. Make sure the tp sensor and iac valve do not touch on any solvent or cleaner. The assembly part would require the placement of the Throttle Body with a brand-new gasket with the attachment nuts done by tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reconnect the coolant hoses, accelerator control cable /cruise control cable / tp sensor, iac valve electrical connectors and vacuum hose, reinstallation of the air cleaner assembly. With the engine turned off, ensure free movement of the accelerator pedal and then press and release it. Turning the ignition on for 10 sec, off for 5 sec, and then running the engine to inspect that it is this idles at the correct speed is how to reset the iac valve.
