Service and repair of the Starter motor begins with disconnecting the battery negative cable and raising the vehicle. First disconnect the wires from the Starter Solenoid while also removing the Starter motor brackets and shields when they are present. First remove the Starter motor bolts together with any present shims before extracting the Starter motor from the engine compartment. Place the Starter motor on the engine before screwing in the bolts and shims when possible (if present) while tightening them to 45 n.m (33 lb ft). Make sure both Starter Solenoid connections receive 10 n.m torque for the Battery Cable while they should come in at 2 n.m for the ignition switch wires. Lower the vehicle after restarting the Starter motor brackets and shields and end by connecting the negative Battery Cable.
