Chevrolet Metro Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on Chevrolet Metro?
A: First disconnect the negative power cable from the battery and clean the reservoir cap before removing it. Drain fluid from the reservoir and detach the fluid level sensor electric connection. Take away all three brake hoses from the master cylinder when they are not equipped with abs. Uncap these connector nuts with the right tool. When changing the Brake Master Cylinder take the two brake pipes off both the master cylinder and proportioning valve by loosening their nuts on models that have abs. Seal the exposed brake pipes before damage and leakage occur. Disassemble the unit by taking out the two master cylinder nuts and washers alongside the master cylinder and its gasket from the vacuum booster. Bleed the master cylinder properly on a workbench. Then install the new gasket and master cylinder into place using the two mounting nuts and washers before tightening them to 13 nm (115 inch lbs.). Connect brake pipes to the master cylinder and proportioning valve system on abs models, fasten them by hand and tighten master cylinder brake pipe flare nuts to 12 ft. Lbs. Plug the power cables for the fluid level switch and reconnect the car battery. Finally, bleed the brake system.
