You must position the
Piston at top dead center (TDC) to avoid letting the valve drop into the cylinder prior to changing the Valve Stem Oil Seal and both valve guide seal and valve spring. Start by removing the
Spark Plug then cleaning around the Spark Plug valve area. Push the Spark Plug port adapter (Part J 22794) into the spark port opening until you can use compressed air to keep the valves secure. Put the valve spring compressor j 38606 on the valve spring to loosen valve locks, then remove valve cap, valve spring, and valve guide seal for inspection. Put the new valve guide seal into its seat and layer on the valve spring and valve cap on top. Use the valve spring compressor (J 38606) to compress the valve spring then install the valve locks into position with the help of grease when needed. Separate the valve spring and make sure the locking mechanism sits correctly. Following that disconnect the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) and put back the
Rocker Arm along with the Spark Plug.
