The first step includes installing all brake caliper component parts along with the application of new Delco Supreme 11® solution GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667) or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid for improved assembly. Bleeding of the brake system needs to be performed whenever hydraulic system components get separated from their normal connection. Service operation must take place on this clean bench that provides a dry environment for providing torque values before you start working on non-lubricated fasteners. Detach the brake caliper from the automobile then drain all brake fluid. Apply compressed air with care to remove the piston but exercise safety measures to prevent injuries. When removing the piston, clean cloth pads should be used inside the caliper housing and a 25 mm block of wood should rest between the piston and caliper. Before inserting low-pressure compressed air into the brake caliper inlet hole, install a large C-clamp across the brake caliper body which assists piston extraction. Utilize denatured alcohol or equivalent liquid to cleanse the caliper piston bore and seal counterbore along with the caliper piston while averting abrasive substances. Check all brake caliper parts for damage and replace all damaged components. Apply Delco Supreme 11® brake fluid, GM P/N 12377967 (or Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent DOT-3 product to the new piston seal. Substitute the lubricated piston seals into the caliper bores.
