To replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor, first raise and support the vehicle in an appropriate manner. Well, some of you may find this annoying. Untape the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and unbolt and remove the CKP sensor. When installing the CKP sensor, make certain that the sensor is pushed in firmly before tightening the bolt to prevent erratic performance and false diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). If replacing the old CKP sensor, install a NEW seal-ing (O-ring) onto the sensor before oiling with clean engine oil. Install the CKP sensor and bolt by tightening it to a 10 N.m (89 lb in). Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the CKP sensor. In case of applicable, use the position of the oil pan skid plate and install the bolts, and fasten them to 28 N.m (21 lb 10).
