To replace the previous engine front, first you remove the
Water Pump, crank shaft, balancer,
Oil Pan and then take the engine shield bolts and shield out. Unplug the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector, remove the ckp sensor bolt and sensor, and pass the ckp sensor o-ring seal. Next, unbolt and discard the front cover bolts and do not reinstall old composite front cover but install a new front cover instead. Polish all sealing surfaces before installing the new front cover and tighten front cover bolts at 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Lubricate a new ckp sensor o-ring seal with clean engine oil and install it to the ckp sensor followed by installing the ckp sensor and bolt in such a way that the bolt is tightened to 8 nm (71 inch lbs) while ensuring that the sensor is fully seated in order to reduce erratic performance and false dtcs. Disconnect the ckp sensor electrical connector , then mount the engine shield and bolts, temporarily tighten--20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Finally, replace the Oil Pan, crankshaft balancer, and Water Pump.
