How to replace the Neutral Safety Switch on Chevrolet Silverado 3500?

Remove the pnp switch bolts and take the pnp switch off the manual shaft; use filing to smooth the edges of the manual shaft when its outer surface does not slide off without resistance. To mount the pnp switch position it against the manual shaft's flat surfaces before sliding it onto the shaft until the switch bracket makes contact with transmission mounts. Bolts on a new pnp switch include a built-in positive assurance bracket rendering the park neutral switch aligner obsolete. Install pnp switch bolts at finger tight tension before putting the j 41364-a park neutral switch aligner (J 41364-A) on the pnp switch. Position the tool's lower tabs in the switch slots. Tighten the j 41364-a bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) when the upper locator pin sits directly above the slot on top of the switch. Uninstall the j 41364-a from the pnp switch while also removing the positive assurance bracket if it exists. Use the nut to install the manual shaft to the control lever and tighten it to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Position the range selector cable end on the ball stud of the range selector lever before attaching the pnp switch electrical connection. If the vehicle has 4wd, reinstall the front propeller shaft, lower the vehicle, and check the pnp switch for proper operation, ensuring the engine starts only in the park (P) or neutral (N) positions; the switch requires replacement if it fails to function properly.
