Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Differential Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: What tools are needed to service and repair the differential bearings on Chevrolet Suburban 1500?
A: These tools are necessary to service and repair Differential side bearings for all types except the 9.75 inch axle: service and repair of Differential side bearings need the tools j8092 universal driver handle (J8092), j21784 side bearing installer (J21784), j22888-d side bearing remover kit (J22888-D), j29710 Differential side bearing installer (J29710), and j36597 side bearing puller pilot - 9.25 inch (J36597). J8092 universal driver handle (J8092), j21784 side bearing installer (J21784), j22888-d side bearing remover kit (J22888-D), j29710 Differential side bearing installer (J29710), and j36597 side bearing puller pilot - 9.25 inch (J36597). Start by taking out the Differential assembly from the vehicle. The 8.6 inch and 9.5 inch axle Differential assembly must be placed in a vise for installation. Before you secure the Differential case with a vise for the 10.5 inch axle you must first place a block of wood on both its sides. Use the j22888-20a together with the j8107-4 if you have the 8.6 inch axle but move to the j36597 for 9.5 inch and 10.5 inch axles to extract Differential side bearings with the j22888-20a. Once the bearings are removed from the vise you should remove the Differential assembly. The j8107-4 for 8.6 inch axles or the j36597 for 9.5 inch or 10.5 inch axles should be installed on the exact side of the Differential case that will not receive bearings. Install first the j21784 for the 8.6 inch axle followed by the j29710 for the 9.5 inch or 10.5 inch axle and the j8092 on top of the Differential case bearing. Drive the bearing onto the case through the combination of the j21784 or j29710 with j8092. After this step, replace the Differential assembly.
