Chevrolet Tahoe Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the hydraulic brake booster on Chevrolet Tahoe?
A: The replacement of a hydraulic Brake Booster must begin with wheel blockage and application of the parking brake. Disengage all hoses between the inlet pipe and steering gear and return pipes from the booster assembly yet keep the master cylinder pipes intact. After removing the master cylinder to hydraulic booster nuts you should place the master cylinder in the engine compartment. After removing the stop lamp switch the next task is to remove 4 booster to bulkhead nuts before extracting booster assembly and its gasket from the vehicle. First place the gasket then proceed with the installation of the booster assembly. Install the four booster to bulkhead nuts then tighten them to 33 nm (24 lb ft). After correctly installing the stop lamp switch the master cylinder should be attached to the Brake Booster and secured with 33 nm (24 lb ft) torque. Complete the installation by connecting all return hose and steering gear and inlet hoses then perform hydraulic booster system bleeding and remove the park brake and unblock the wheels. Procedure requires attention because hydraulic brake systems employ power steering fluid in the Brake Booster yet require brake fluid to flow through master cylinder and brake pipes.
