Besides cooling, the air also dehumidifies, with moistures which condenses and drain off causing formation of water puddles round the vehicle. Through the years the Automation of Chevrolet Tracker models may have come across distinct forms of Evaporators that varies in structure and functionality. Some of the general problems that require the replacement of the Evaporator include, leakage, corrosion by debris, and blocked drain tubes which affects the working of the device besides causing an awful smell. In general, the Evaporator is rather important component for providing comfortable climate inside the Chevrolet Tracker due to its capability to control temperature and humidity.

Chevrolet Tracker Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on Chevrolet Tracker?
    A:
A technician must begin by evacuating and recovering refrigerant while following sir handling caution procedures. The sir system must be disabled alongside the negative Battery Cable. After clearing the instrument panel carrier you should first remove the bolt while sliding the plate counterclockwise to break the connection between bulkhead and Evaporator inlet and outlet tubes. First isolate the open refrigerant lines through capping to stop contamination and then remove the Evaporator temperature sensor electrical connector from the compressor control module. The Evaporator case removal begins by taking out the 6 screws along with 2 nuts until the case can be removed from the vehicle while additional steps require the removal of 5 screws and the Evaporator case insulation. Disconnect the Evaporator case halves then pull out the Evaporator from the lower case. Separate the expansion valve through removing its 2 bolts followed by detaching the Evaporator temperature sensor from the Evaporator unit. Set the Evaporator within the lower case after installing the Evaporator temperature sensor then fasten the expansion valve using the 2 bolts. Reconnect the Evaporator case halves by using 5 screws before reinstalling the Evaporator case into the vehicle. Screw and tighten the five screws alongside two nuts until they reach 10 n.m (89 lb in). Connect the Evaporator temperature sensor electrical connector to the compressor control module before applying new o-rings to the Evaporator pipe fittings which require mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil. And the bulkhead needs the Evaporator inlet and outlet pipes to be connected by sliding the plate while rotating it clockwise then securing it using the bolt. Place back the instrument panel carrier followed by sir activation and the negative (-) battery cable reconnection. The evacuation and recharging process must be completed for the air conditioning system before operating it while checking for refrigerant leaks.
