How to replace the Front Cross-Member for Transmission Support (2WD) on GMC Canyon?

Begin by lifting and supporting the transmission with a proper stand or jack to replace the transmission support crossmember in 2wd vehicles. Separate the nuts which keep the transmission mount secured to the transmission support. Raising the transmission lets you remove both the vertical bolts and horizontal nuts and bolts securing the transmission support to the frame. Begin by installing the new transmission support onto the frame. Secure the horizontal bolts and nuts loose then apply loose connections to vertical bolts. First tighten the horizontal nuts to 50 nm (37 lb ft) followed by torquing the vertical bolts to 100 nm (74 lb ft). Place the transmission and install the needed nuts into the transmission mount. To complete the procedure remove the stand or jack and lower the vehicle.
