GMC Canyon Wheel Speed Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front wheel speed sensor on a 4WD on GMC Canyon?
A: You need to remove the Steering Knuckle first to replace the Wheel Speed Sensor of a 4wd vehicle. Remove the bolt holding the Wheel Speed Sensor harness bracket to the Steering Knuckle. Keep track that the harness should lie between the two Wheel Hub/bearing bolts when you face the narrowest angle towards the upper position. Mark the Wheel Speed Sensor harness position on the Steering Knuckle using white or famous colored paint. Take out the Wheel Hub/bearing bolts on this side then lift the brake rotor and Wheel Hub/bearing assembly from the Steering Knuckle . Keep the Wheel Speed Sensor harness passing through the Steering Knuckle while you avoid pressing against the tone wheel when fitting it correctly. Disconnect and remove the Wheel Speed Sensor properly using correct equipment inside its Wheel Hub/bearing housing. Use the Wheel Hub/bearing assembly bolt holes to place the Wheel Speed Sensor harness at its narrowest position. Set the new Wheel Speed Sensor on the Wheel Hub/bearing assembly and push it until it reaches full seating. Fit the Wheel Hub/bearing and brake rotor assembly unit to the Steering Knuckle at the location where the Wheel Speed Sensor harness must be kept above. Fasten the Wheel Hub/bearing bolts to 125 n.m (92 lb ft) while keeping the harness in an upward position. Afterwards install the bracket bolt holding the Wheel Speed Sensor harness and torque it to 20 n.m (14 lb ft). Put the Steering Knuckle back into place at the end.
