How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer on GMC Jimmy?

To replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor/switch (For Computer), start by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery. Loosen the wingnuts on the air cleaner cover and outlet duct, and then shift the air intake assembly off to the side. Give enough time to let the engine cool down to avoid losing too much coolant or injuring yourself taking the pressure off the cooling system and draining below the ect sensor. Remove the ect sensor by disconnecting the ect sensor harness connector. For installation, apply gm p/n 12346004 sealer or equivalent to the threads of the new ect sensor and install it to the engine, then tighten it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Plug in the ect sensor harness connector, add coolant to the system, install the air cleaner outlet duct assembly, tighten wing nuts, and finally replace the negative cable.
