How to replace the rack and pinion boot and breather tube on GMC Canyon?

Begin Rack and Pinion Boot and breather tube replacement by using keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to extract the outer tie rod. Start by unscrewing both the hexagon jam nut on the inner tie rod assembly and the tie rod end clamp on the Rack and Pinion Boot. Copper side cutters allow you to remove and dispose of the boot clamp which is found on the Rack and Pinion Boot. Before removing the Rack and Pinion Boot, mark all breather tube placements on the gear assembly. Check the inner tie rod for signs of either corrosion or contamination after the boot removal process. The repair should begin even if there are no present signs of contamination or damage. To begin the repair, remove both the Rack and Pinion Boot and any breather tube which may exist from the Rack And Pinion gear assembly. New boot clamp installation precedes Rack and Pinion Boot application to the inner tie rod assembly following inner tie rod assembly and Rack And Pinion gear assembly grease application. Install the breather tube after proper alignment with both the marked boot area and its molded nipple on the Rack and Pinion Boot. The Rack and Pinion Boot should not present twisted or puckered formations during installation. Adjust the boot by hand before using the keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to install the boot clamp. Use the keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to pinch and clamp the boot from the Rack and Pinion Boot while attaching the tie rod end clamp to the Rack and Pinion Boot. The process finishes by applying the hexagon jam nut to the inner tie rod assembly.

How to Ensure Proper Installation of the Rack and Pinion Boot on GMC Envoy?

The procedure to replace a Rack and Pinion Boot demands initial outer tie rod and Rack And Pinion gear removal from the vehicle. Every component of the boot requires replacement during inner tie rod replacement. When using side cutters to remove the Rack and Pinion Boot's small seal retaining clamp and large seal retaining clamp you should avoid cutting through the boot's end while also maintaining the boot's space distance from the tie rod. Pull the Rack and Pinion Boot firmly from the gear before throwing it away. To install the Rack and Pinion Boot add grease to its rib area before placing the new large seal retaining clamp on the boot. Set the boot in position across the inner Tie Rod End while keeping the boot arrows exactly opposite the gear housing markers. Set the new small seal retaining clamp on top of the boot before guiding the boot towards the assembly center where it will firmly seat into the grooves of the inner tie rod while avoiding twisting or puckering. Use j 22610 keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to crimp the large seal retaining clamp on the boot while crimping the small seal retaining clamp to the inner tie rod assembly. Reinstall the Rack And Pinion gear together with the outer tie rod.
