GMC Safari Wheel Speed Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the Wheel Speed Sensor on GMC Safari?
A: Wheel Speed Sensor is repaired by first lifting up the vehicle, and removing the tire and wheel. Then, take away brake caliper and then the hub as well as rotor. Remove the Wheel Speed Sensor mounting clips on the Control Arm and frame; then, take off the electric connector of the Wheel Speed Sensor. Gently remove the sensor straight from the bore without using prying implements so that you do not damage the sensor body. As the Wheel Speed Sensor is mounted into a bore that leads to the sealed bearing's center, be careful; do not contaminate the lubricant within the bearing to cause premature failure. Hold the Wheel Speed Sensor against the engine frame while tightening. Remove from the hub and assembly. For installation, it is important to note that a new o-ring comes with the new speed sensor and this should be lubricated lightly with bearing grease before installation, along with the sensor above and below the o-ring while maintaining the bore as unlubricated. Mount the sensor to the hub and bearing assembly and fasten the sensor mounting bolts to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Connect the sensor's electrical connector using the wire to mount clips the wire of the sensor to the Control Arm and frame. Lastly, put the hub and rotor, the brake caliper, and the tire and wheel back in place.
