GMC Sierra 3500 Engine Mount Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the left engine mount on GMC Sierra 3500?
A: Begin the left engine mount replacement by ensuring proper vehicle elevation: the two-wheel drive needs lifting to the front wheelhouse opening but four-wheel drives require being lifted with the tires and wheels off. Start the procedure by taking off the left front wheel before removing wheelhouse inner panel push pin retainers and wheelhouse inner panel. Users can access the engine mount heat shield bolts by entering through the wheelhouse opening before removing the heat shield. Begin by removing the engine mount-to-engine mount bracket bolt before proceeding to remove the oil pan skid plate bolts when needed. A suitable jack should lift the engine to a limited height that breaks its connection to the engine mount bracket after removing engine shield bolts and shield along with the engine mount bolts. First discharge the engine mount-to-engine bolts and detach the mount while next discarding the mount bracket through bolts and bracket itself. To install the engine mount bracket position it on the frame then remove all original adhesive before cleaning all bolt threads with denatured alcohol followed by applying threadlocker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the bolts. Begin by attaching the mount bracket through bolts in a loose manner and position the engine mount to the engine before installing the engine mount-to-engine bolts in a loose state. Secure the engine mount bracket through bolts at 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) while mounting bolts at the engine should be tightened to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). Install the engine shield followed by its mounting bolts while tightening both to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Proceed to lower the engine. The vehicle must have an oil pan skid plate which you should install by following up with 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) torque. Install the engine mount heat shield afterward together with the engine mount-to-engine mount bracket bolts while tightening these fasteners to 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.). Install the left front tire together with the wheel while reattaching the wheelhouse inner panel push pin retainers and the wheelhouse inner panel before lowering the vehicle.
