How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch on GMC Sonoma?

To service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/switch, one should first turn off the ignition and unfasten the wing nuts of the air cleaner cover and air cleaner outlet duct, and shift the air intake assembly to one side. Prior to removing the ect sensor, drain the cooling system below the level of the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and remove the ect sensor harness connector. For installation apply on the threads gm p/n 12346004 sealer or equivalent, then secure the ect sensor onto the engine and tighten to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Connect the ect sensor harness connector, fluid the cooling system, install the air cleaner outlet duct assembly, and tighten the wing nuts. Lastly, attach the negative Battery Cable.
