Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing, hub, and seal on GMC Yukon XL 1500?
A: For front Wheel Hub replacement start by supporting the car and removing the tire and wheel then brake rotor. Separate the Wheel Speed Sensor and brake hose bracket bolt from the Steering Knuckle before disconnecting the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connection. Unfasten the 15 series Wheel Hub and bearing mount bolts as well as the 25 series Wheel Hub bearing bolts. Then remove the Wheel Hub bearing assembly and splash shield. Take the o-ring seal from the Steering Knuckle hole (25 Series) and Wheel Speed Sensor bolt. Check and test the o-ring (25 Series) for damage before replacing it. First clean both the Steering Knuckle bore and hub and bearing surfaces then apply Wheel Bearing grease in the knuckle bore before installing the o-ring seal onto the knuckle. Position the Wheel Hub and bearing unit properly on the Steering Knuckle after installing the Wheel Speed Sensor bolt at 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.) tension. Also install the hub assembly into the vehicle (25 Series) or the Steering Knuckle (15 Series) alongside the shelter (splash shield). Adjust the Wheel Hub and bearing bolts in the Steering Knuckle (15 Series) and (25 Series) until they apply 180 newton-meters (133 foot pounds) of torque. Use Wheel Speed Sensor electrical power supply. Connect the sensor bolt to Steering Knuckle first then secure it at 12 nm (106 inch lbs) before placing rotor on the wheel.
