Wiper Arm, Rear

When replacing the rear Wiper Arm, pay attention to the wiper's position on the glass before removal. Unplug the washer hose, then twist the part of the Wiper Arm cover. Take out the nut (NUT), which holds the Wiper Arm to the Wiper Motor and remove the Wiper Arm from the liftgate. For the installation, align the Wiper Arm to the vehicle and attach the nut (NUT) and tighten it to 23 n.m (17 lb ft) and fix it to the Wiper Arm to the Wiper Motor. Close the Wiper Arm cover, take the washer hose off, and reinstall it onto the Wiper Arm, and inspect the rear wiper as well.

Start the Wiper Arm replacement by taking note of the wiper position before you remove it. Unplug the washer hose from its end and then twist the Wiper Arm cover out of its position. Take out the bolt holding the Wiper Arm on the Wiper Motor then unmount the Wiper Arm from the car's liftgate. After setting the Wiper Arm in proper position, fit the nut and secure it to the Wiper Motor at 23 n.m (17 lb ft). Make sure both parts are in place before examining if the rear wiper works correctly.

Begin the replacement by separating the washer hose and removing the wiper arm cover together with the nut to release the arm. To mount the wiper arm set it in the park ramp and position the tab toward the ramp surface. Always remember to observe the Service Precautions Fastener Notice during this process. The next step is to fit the wiper arm to the motor by securing the nut at 17 lb ft (23 N.m). Reinstall both parts by putting the wiper arm cover back in place then joining the hose to its original location.

Mark the Wiper Blade position on the windshield using marker tape and disconnect the washer hose to replace the Wiper Arm. Take off the nut cover and its nut from the Wiper Arm to install the battery terminal puller underneath the Wiper Arm and remove it from the Drive Shaft. Use a wire brush to clean all rough edges on the Drive Shaft. Align the Wiper Arm over the mark made earlier on the windshield and then attach the Wiper Arm onto the Drive Shaft followed by tightening the nut to 22 lb ft (30 N.m). Reinstall the washer cover and hose while cleaning the windshield mark or tape before running the wipers to test their functionality.

Before replacing the Wiper Arm you should label the Wiper Blade position with tape over the windshield then remove the washer hose. Start by removing the protective cover from the Wiper Arm and then untighten the nut. Continue attempting removal with a battery terminal puller when rocking the Wiper Arm does not sufficiently loosen Drive Shaft connections. After the Drive Shaft becomes loose remove the Wiper Arm from its place then clean each knurl on the shaft with a wire brush. Insert the Wiper Arm at the point where the marked windshield position is visible before screwing it onto the Drive Shaft. Secure the Drive Shaft nut by applying 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque force. Complete the installation by placing the cover onto the nut then attach the washer hose and wipe the windshield marks clean. Test the operation of the wiper system to verify it functions correctly.

Rock the wiper arm back and forth to detach it from the drive shaft and clean the knurls of the drive shaft with a wire brush.
