    Q:
How to replace battery cables on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
Use new battery cables that have identical specifications to the original ones including type, gauge and length. Start by taking off the negative cable attached to the battery. Start with taking out the negative battery cable bolt and the battery ground cable from their position at the frame rail near the underhood accessory wiring junction block. After lifting the vehicle for support remove the transaxle stud nut and the battery ground cable from the transaxle stud. Separate the wiring harness conduit from its retainers (2,3,4) and slide the negative battery cable through the conduit. Installation requires inserting the negative battery cable into the wiring harness conduit and fastening battery wiring harness onto the harness retainers (2,3,4). Fasten the battery ground cable to the transaxle stud first while securing the transaxle stud nut with 25 N.m (18 lb ft) of torque. X. Lower the vehicle and bolt the negative battery cable to the frame rail adjacent to the underhood accessory wiring junction block while applying an 8 N.m torque value (71 lb in). After finishing, connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
